Nascido em 1963, é Ronald A. Kurtz Professor of Entrepreneurship na Sloan School do MIT, onde também chefia o Global Economics and Management Group. Foi economista-chefe no Fundo Monetário Internacional, tendo trabalhado com crises económicas globais durante 30 anos. Johnson publicou mais de 300 textos influentes em publicações importantes como The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Atlantic e Financial Times. É coautor dos livros Jump-Starting America, White House Burning e 13 Bankers. Trabalha com empresários, governos e organizações da sociedade civil de vários países.
