David Attenborough

Sir David Attenborough, nascido em Londres em 1926, é o naturalista mais famoso do planeta, cuja carreira televisiva está agora na sétima década. Depois de estudar Ciências Naturais em Cambridge, foi trabalhar para a BBC em 1952 como produtor estagiário. Enquanto participava na série Zoo Quest (1954-64) teve a primeira oportunidade de realizar expedições a zonas remotas do globo, para captar imagens muito próximas da vida selvagem no seu habitat natural. Desempenhou as funções de diretor da BBC2 (1965-68) e de diretor de programação da BBC (1969-72), mas abandonou a administração em 1973 para regressar à criação de programas, tendo escrito e apresentado uma série em treze episódios, A Vida na Terra (1979), que traçava a história evolutiva de animais e plantas. A esta seguiram-se muitas outras séries de grande êxito, como Planeta Vivo (1984), Os Desafios da Vida (1990), A Vida Privada das Plantas (1995), Planeta Azul (2001), Planeta Terra (2006) e Planeta Terra II (2016), e o documentário Uma Vida no Nosso Planeta (2020), que analisam todos os aspetos da vida no planeta. Aventuras de um Jovem Naturalista e o seu testemunho e visão para o futuro, Uma Vida no Nosso Planeta, foram publicados pela Temas e Debates.
