Dorothy Dunnett

Dorothy Dunnett foi considerada por muitos a melhor autora de ficção histórica do seu tempo, reconhecida internacionalmente por aliar factos históricos e imaginação. Ganhou fama sobretudo com as séries As Crónicas de Lymond e The House of Niccolo – passadas na Europa e no Mediterrâneo dos séculos XV e XVI – e com o romance histórico King Hereafter.
Em 1992, Dorothy Dunnett recebeu o prémio OBE pelo serviço prestado à literatura, e, em 2014, Francis Crawford de Lymond, o seu protagonista mais duradouro, foi votado o personagem histórico favorito dos Escoceses – ultrapassando figuras como Sherlock Holmes e Harry Potter.
A autora fundou a Dorothy Dunnett Society, com o objetivo de promover o estudo das épocas sobre as quais escrevia e de incentivar à conservação e leitura das suas obras.
