Yes

Yes é uma banda britânica de rock progressivo formada em 1968 em Londres. Com uma carreira que se estende por mais de cinco décadas, a banda tornou-se uma das mais influentes e bem-sucedidas do género, sendo pioneira na fusão de rock com estruturas musicais complexas, elementos sinfónicos e letras abstratas. A formação clássica da banda incluiu Jon Anderson (vocalista), Chris Squire (baixista), Steve Howe (guitarrista), Rick Wakeman (tecladista) e Bill Bruford (baterista).

O primeiro álbum autointitulado Yes foi lançado em 1969, mas o grande sucesso veio com o lançamento de The Yes Album (1971), que marcou a entrada de Steve Howe e apresentou canções icónicas como "Yours Is No Disgrace" e "Starship Trooper". O álbum foi um ponto de viragem que ajudou a definir o som do rock progressivo. Seguiu-se o aclamado Fragile (1971), que incluiu o sucesso "Roundabout", uma das canções mais conhecidas da banda.

Em 1972, lançaram Close to the Edge, amplamente considerado uma obra-prima do rock progressivo. Este álbum destacou-se pelas suas longas composições, como a faixa-título, que combinava complexidade técnica com uma narrativa musical envolvente. A habilidade de Yes em criar faixas longas e intricadas com camadas de arranjos instrumentais elaborados tornou-se uma das suas assinaturas sonoras.

Apesar de mudanças constantes na formação ao longo dos anos, incluindo a saída e o regresso de vários membros-chave como Wakeman e Anderson, Yes continuou a lançar álbuns inovadores e a evoluir musicalmente. Nos anos 80, com 90125 (1983), a banda adotou um som mais acessível e comercial, o que lhes trouxe um novo sucesso com o single "Owner of a Lonely Heart", que alcançou o topo das tabelas nos Estados Unidos.

Yes continua a ser uma força vital no mundo do rock progressivo, realizando digressões e lançando música nova, mesmo após a morte de Chris Squire, o único membro constante da banda até à sua morte em 2015. Com uma carreira longa e rica, Yes deixou um impacto duradouro na música, influenciando gerações de músicos e mantendo uma base de fãs leal em todo o mundo.
