SOBRE O ARTISTA

New Order

Os New Order são uma banda britânica de rock e música eletrónica formada em 1980 em Manchester, Inglaterra. O grupo foi criado pelos membros restantes da banda Joy Division, após a morte do vocalista Ian Curtis. A formação original incluía Bernard Sumner (vocalista e guitarrista), Peter Hook (baixista), Stephen Morris (baterista) e Gillian Gilbert (tecladista e guitarrista). Ao longo dos anos, os New Order tornaram-se uma das bandas mais influentes e inovadoras do movimento pós-punk e da música eletrónica, combinando de forma pioneira elementos de rock, new wave e música de dança.

Após a dissolução dos Joy Division, os New Order rapidamente começaram a desenvolver o seu próprio som, mais orientado para a eletrónica e influenciado pelo movimento emergente da música de dança. O seu primeiro single, "Ceremony", ainda carregava resquícios do som sombrio e melancólico dos Joy Division, mas à medida que a banda evoluiu, começou a incorporar sintetizadores, caixas de ritmos e batidas de discoteca, resultando numa fusão única de estilos. Em 1983, lançaram Blue Monday, um dos seus maiores sucessos e um marco na história da música eletrónica. A canção, que se tornou o single de 12 polegadas mais vendido de todos os tempos, é amplamente considerada como um dos primeiros grandes hinos da música de dança.

O álbum Power, Corruption & Lies (1983) solidificou o som dos New Order, com uma combinação de rock e música eletrónica que se tornou a sua assinatura. A banda continuou a explorar novos territórios musicais com álbuns como Low-Life (1985) e Brotherhood (1986), ambos contendo faixas que misturavam de forma inovadora guitarras e sintetizadores. Em 1987, lançaram Substance, uma compilação que incluiu alguns dos seus maiores êxitos e que ajudou a ampliar ainda mais a sua popularidade, tanto na Europa como nos Estados Unidos.

Nos anos 90, os New Order continuaram a lançar música de sucesso, embora enfrentassem alguns desafios internos e mudanças na formação. O álbum Technique (1989) refletiu a influência da cena acid house de Ibiza, onde a banda passou algum tempo, e foi seguido por Republic (1993), que incluiu o single "Regret", um dos seus maiores sucessos. Após um período de hiato, a banda reuniu-se para lançar Get Ready (2001) e Waiting for the Sirens' Call (2005), ambos recebidos com aclamação crítica e mostrando que os New Order ainda eram uma força criativa relevante.

Os New Order continuam a ser uma das bandas mais respeitadas e influentes na música moderna. A sua capacidade de fundir géneros e de inovar constantemente no som fez deles pioneiros tanto no rock alternativo como na música eletrónica. O impacto da banda é sentido em inúmeras áreas da música, e canções como "Blue Monday", "Bizarre Love Triangle" e "True Faith" permanecem clássicos atemporais.
