When Was Latin America Modern?

Latin America's experience of modernity has been the subject of much academic attention. Stemming from an interdisciplinary convention in 2005 at the Institute for the Studies of the Americas in London, this work contains papers that has a strong thematic integrity. It illustrates the variety of approaches to the question of modernity.
