The Hour That Breaks

This is the first biography in English of the major German poet Gottfried Benn (1886â€"1956). The book focuses both on the key events of Benn’s personal and public life, and on his development as a poet. There are detailed discussions of many of his poems, a number of which are translated here for the first time.
