The Buddha Side

This is the first study to describe Buddhism in Vietnam as it is experienced and understood by the majority of practitioners. It contextualizes Buddhist practices in contemporary Hanoi and examines the interconnections that religious practice has with age and gender. It examines particularly, the performative aspect of Buddhist practice in contemporary Vietnamese society.
