Michael, an artist commissioned to paint a portrait of Lord Palmer, finds himself drawn into a relationship with the Lord's daughter which threatens to disturb the strange but delicate balance between the residents of the estate. This novel is set in the isolated community of Inchnamactaire - the island of the wolf.
