Samuel Richardson'S Fictions Of Gender

In developing a gender theory for analyzing Samuel Richardson's three novels - "Pamela", "Clarissa", and "Sir Charles Grandison" - this text argues that these novels of sexual threat expose, sometimes unwillingly, the labour required to construct and maintain the 18th-century ideology of gender.
