The physician John Ayrton Paris (1785â€"1856) first published this book in 1812: reissued here is the 1820 third edition. Designed to inform the student of the properties and effects of each medicinal substance, and their function, both alone and in combinations, it provides formulae and doses for the whole pharmacopoeia.
