Oporto

Oporto is situated on the right hand margin of the Douro river, on the last kilometres to the mouth of the river. Its dimension, its economic relevance and its geographic position bestow upon it the status of a great city, even if not that massive on international standards.
If we wish to characterize Oporto from an economic poitn of view we see that, despite the fact that it possesses a dynamic industrial province, it is the service area that predominate, in other words, public administration, commerce, banking and insurance, health care, hotels, restaurants and others. To be more precise, the tertiary sector corresponds to over two thirds of the population, the secondary sector, less than a third and the primary sector is basically residual.
