Natural Disasters And Indian History

Providing a social and economic history of natural disasters in India, this work uncovers the silent processes behind relief and rebuilding. Using major floods, earthquakes, and famines that took place between 1770 and 1935 as case studies, the author shows how disasters enable new understandings of nature, state, and society.
