With little iron ore, the colony-world of Kalima is entrenched in a peaceful feudal society. When Alere, failed xintou-telepath, uncovers the existence of an iron deposit, she becomes the unwilling focus of a revolution. Fleeing for her life, Alere begins a journey to discover her own bloody family history, in order to prevent the first ever war.
