Emma Lazarus

Emma Lazarus, poet and author of Sephardic (Spanish Jewish) background, is the author of the poem "The New Colossus" on the Statue of Liberty. She is known for her words, "Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me"
