Blood Desert

This collection of historical narrative poems gives voice to New Mexico in the nineteenth century. Many people died in the settling of New Mexico and the Southwest, and these poems deal with the troubled times ranging from the struggles between Padre Martinez and Archbishop Lamy, to the last days of Apache resistance and the surrender of Geronimo, to the death of Billy the Kid.
