Through extensive archival research, Silkey explores Wells’s 1893â€"94 antilynching campaigns within the broader contexts of nineteenth-century transatlantic reformation. Wells's speaking engagements and newspaper interviews reframed public debates on lynching in Britain and the United States and transformed our understanding of racial violence.
