Facing a difficult and uncertain future in 19th Century war-torn Germany, Henry Schaumann joined his fellow countrymen as they made their way to the ports of Europe in a new wave of migration to America. Large numbers of young professionals and workers added significantly to the development of the US, particularly in regions of the Midwest.
