The Deftones are an alternative metal band formed in Sacramento, California in 1988. The band's classic lineup includes Chino Moreno (vocalist and guitarist), Stephen Carpenter (guitarist), Abe Cunningham (drummer), and Chi Cheng (bassist), who was later replaced by Sergio Vega after a car accident that left Cheng in a coma until his death in 2013. Frank Delgado joined the band as a keyboardist and DJ. Known for their unique blend of metal, shoegaze, post-hardcore, and alternative elements, Deftones have created a sound that is both heavy and atmospheric.

The Deftones' debut album, "Adrenaline," was released in 1995 and helped establish the band in the alternative metal scene. In 2016, the Deftones released "Gore," an album that divided opinions, but was nonetheless praised for its complexity and the band's willingness to experiment. Tracks like "Prayers/Triangles" and "Phantom Bride" stood out for their depth and ambition.

The band's most recent album, "Ohms," was released in 2020 and was critically acclaimed, being considered a return to the classic Deftones sound. Tracks like "Ohms" and "Genesis" showed a reinvigorated and inspired band.
