Beastie Boys

Os Beastie Boys foram uma influente banda norte-americana de hip-hop, formada em 1981 em Nova Iorque. Originalmente uma banda de punk rock, os membros fundadores eram Michael "Mike D" Diamond, Adam "MCA" Yauch e Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz. Eles se tornaram um dos primeiros grupos de rap a alcançar sucesso comercial significativo e foram pioneiros na fusão de hip-hop com elementos de rock.

O álbum de estreia da banda, Licensed to Ill (1986), foi um marco na história do hip-hop e do rock, tornando-se o primeiro álbum de rap a alcançar o primeiro lugar na Billboard 200. O álbum incluiu hits icónicos como "Fight For Your Right (To Party)" e "No Sleep Till Brooklyn", que ajudaram a popularizar o hip-hop entre o público branco e jovem dos Estados Unidos, algo que foi decisivo para a expansão do género.
