The Kinks are a British rock band formed in 1963 in London, England. In addition to the Davies brothers, the band's classic line-up included Pete Quaife (bassist) and Mick Avory (drums). The band also gained a significant presence in the United States during this decade, adapting their sound to a wider audience and gaining new fans with albums such as Sleepwalker (1977) and Low Budget (1979).

Despite several lineup changes and challenges over the decades, The Kinks remained active until the mid-'90s, leaving a lasting legacy in rock music.
