ABOUT THE ARTIST

Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac, one of the most influential and iconic rock bands of all time, was formed in London in 1967 by guitarist Peter Green, drummer Mick Fleetwood, and bassist John McVie. The band has gone through several line-up changes over the years, but is best known for its classic setup, which includes Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham.

In the early years, Fleetwood Mac was essentially a blues band. With Peter Green, they released several acclaimed albums, including "Fleetwood Mac" (1968) and "Then Play On" (1969), which included hits such as "Albatross," "Oh Well" and "Black Magic Woman" (which became a hit for Santana).

However, it was in the 1970s, with the entry of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, that the band achieved massive commercial success. The album "Fleetwood Mac," released in 1975, marked the beginning of this new era, featuring hits such as "Rhiannon," "Say You Love Me" and "Landslide."

In 1977, Fleetwood Mac released "Rumours," one of the best-selling albums of all time. This album is known for its hits "Go Your Own Way," "Dreams," "Don't Stop" and "The Chain." "Rumours" was written during a tumultuous period for the band, with strained personal relationships and breakups, which was reflected in the emotional lyrics and passionate performances. The album won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1978 and sold over 40 million copies worldwide.

The success continued with albums such as "Tusk" (1979), a more experimental project that included tracks such as "Sara" and "Tusk," and "Mirage" (1982), which brought back a more pop sound with hits such as "Hold Me" and "Gypsy."

In 1987, Fleetwood Mac released "Tango in the Night," which became one of their most popular albums of the '80s, with hits like "Big Love," "Little Lies" and "Everywhere." However, shortly after, Lindsey Buckingham left the band, leading to further lineup changes.

During the 1990s and 2000s, Fleetwood Mac continued to tour and release music, albeit with some interruptions and lineup changes. In 1997, the classic line-up reunited for "The Dance" tour, which was a great success and resulted in a live album.

Christine McVie left the band in 1998 but returned in 2014, reuniting with Nicks, Buckingham, Fleetwood and John McVie for a series of tours and new projects. In 2018, Buckingham left the band again and was replaced by Mike Campbell (of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Neil Finn (of Crowded House).

Fleetwood Mac is known for its rich vocal harmonies, memorable songwriting, and the ability to reinvent itself over the decades. The band has received numerous awards and honors, including induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Fleetwood Mac's music, which ranges from blues to rock to pop, continues to resonate with fans of all ages. The band's impact on music and popular culture is immense, and their legacy as one of the greatest rock bands of all time is assured.
