Cream was one of the first rock superbands, formed in 1966 in London, England. The band consisted of three virtuoso musicians: Eric Clapton (guitar and vocals), Jack Bruce (bass, keyboards and vocals) and Ginger Baker (drums). Cream is widely regarded as one of the most influential bands in rock history, particularly in the development of hard rock and psychedelic rock.

Cream's sound combined blues, rock, and psychedelia, creating a unique fusion that helped define the music of the '60s. The band is famous for both its studio recordings and its live performances, which were often marked by long improvisation sessions. This style of live performance became a hallmark of arena rock that would emerge in the following decades.

The band's debut album, Fresh Cream (1966), was a success, featuring tracks such as "I Feel Free" and "Spoonful", a cover of Willie Dixon's song. However, it was with the second album, Disraeli Gears (1967), that Cream achieved great commercial and critical success, thanks to singles such as "Sunshine of Your Love" and "Strange Brew". This album is often cited as one of the greatest examples of British psychedelic rock.

The third album, Wheels of Fire (1968), became the first double album to reach the top of the charts and included iconic songs such as "White Room" and "Crossroads", the latter an interpretation of a Robert Johnson classic, highlighting Clapton's skill on guitar.

Despite the success, personal tensions between the members, especially between Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, led to the band's breakup in 1968. After their breakup, they released the farewell album Goodbye (1969), which included the single "Badge", co-written by Clapton and George Harrison.

Although Cream had a short career, his influence on rock is undeniable. They paved the way for superbands and helped elevate the status of blues music in rock. The combination of instrumental technique, sonic innovations, and incendiary live performances made Cream a legendary band. In 1993, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2005, they briefly reunited for a series of concerts that reaffirmed their lasting legacy in the music world.
