ABOUT THE ARTIST

NOFX

NOFX is an American punk rock band formed in 1983 in Los Angeles, California. Known for their mix of acid humor, social criticism and fast melodies, the band has become one of the most influential and enduring in the punk scene, standing out for its independence and DIY spirit. The classic lineup includes Fat Mike (vocalist and bassist), Eric Melvin (guitarist), El Hefe (guitarist and trumpeter) and Erik Sandin (drummer).

NOFX began to gain notoriety in the 80s with releases on the independent label Epitaph Records. In the early '90s, albums such as Ribbed (1991) and White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean (1992) helped the band build a loyal fan base, but it was with Punk in Drublic (1994) that they achieved wider success. The album, with tracks such as "Linoleum" and "Don't Call Me White", became a staple of punk rock in the 90s.

Over the decades, NOFX has maintained an irreverent approach, tackling topics such as politics, religion, identity, and inequality with biting humor and a critical stance. Albums such as The War on Errorism (2003) highlighted the band's opposition to the George W. Bush administration, while Self Entitled (2012) reflected more introspective themes.

True to the punk ethos, the band has always refused to sign to major labels, releasing their music on the independent label Fat Wreck Chords, founded by Fat Mike. In addition, NOFX is known for its live performances, marked by energy, humor and improvisation, which have cemented their reputation as one of the most fun and unpredictable bands in punk.

With a career spanning four decades, NOFX continues to be an authentic voice in punk rock. The announcement of the band's end of activities in 2023 was an emotional milestone for longtime fans, but their legacy lives on through a vibrant discography and lasting impact on the global punk scene.
