Doris Day

Doris Day was one of the biggest music and film stars of the twentieth century, known for her multifaceted career that spanned music, comedy, and drama. Born on April 3, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Doris Day began her career as a singer and became one of the most popular artists of her time, winning the hearts of audiences with her sweet voice and charming style. Throughout her career, she has not only stood out as a singer but also as an actress and animal rights advocate, becoming a legend of American culture.

Day began her musical career in the 40s, initially as a singer in big bands, standing out in groups such as Les Brown. Her first major success came in 1945 with the song "Sentimental Journey," which quickly became a classic and established her as one of the great voices of American popular music. His musical career flourished during the 1940s and 1950s, with many hits such as "It's Magic" (1948) and "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)" (1956), the latter becoming his most iconic song and one of the best known of his career. "Que Sera, Sera" also earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Song for his performance in the film The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

In addition to her music career, Doris Day also made a successful transition into film, where she became one of Hollywood's biggest stars in the 1950s and 1960s. She starred in a series of romantic comedies and successful films, such as Pillow Talk (1959), in which she starred opposite Rock Hudson, and Calamity Jane (1953), which earned her a Golden Globe Award. Doris Day became known for her "smiling girl" image and her ability to play roles of charming but also strong women who captivated audiences with her friendliness and charisma. She has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including James Stewart, Cary Grant, and Frank Sinatra.

Throughout her career, Doris Day has also stood out for her dedication to animal rights, founding the Doris Day Animal Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the protection and welfare of animals. After retiring from cinema in the 1970s, she dedicated much of her life to the animal cause and was a fervent advocate for the ethical treatment of animals.
