The Kinks are a British rock band formed in 1963 in London, England. Founded by brothers Ray and Dave Davies, the band is considered one of the most influential in British rock, having played a crucial role in defining the sound of British Invasion in the 60s. In addition to the Davies brothers, the band's classic line-up included Pete Quaife (bassist) and Mick Avory (drums). The band also gained a significant presence in the United States during this decade, adapting their sound to a wider audience and gaining new fans with albums such as Sleepwalker (1977) and Low Budget (1979).

Despite several lineup changes and challenges over the decades, The Kinks remained active until the mid-'90s, leaving a lasting legacy in rock music.
