Curtis Mayfield

Curtis Mayfield was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist, who became one of the most influential figures in soul and funk in the 60s and 70s. With a soft, melodic voice, as well as deep, politicized lyrics, Mayfield won fans around the world with hits like "People Get Ready" and "Move on Up." He was also a pioneer in the use of music as a form of social protest and political awareness, with songs that addressed issues such as racial discrimination and social inequality. Throughout his career, Mayfield has released a number of critically acclaimed albums and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
