ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lcd Soundsystem

LCD Soundsystem is an American rock and electronic music band, formed in 2002 in New York City. The project is led by James Murphy, who is also a co-founder of the influential record label DFA Records. The band is known for its unique combination of dance-punk, rock, and electronic music elements, as well as Murphy's often tongue-in-cheek and reflective lyrics, which touch on topics such as aging, pop culture, and the anxieties of modern life.

LCD Soundsystem's eponymous debut album was released in 2005 and included the single "Daft Punk Is Playing at My House", which quickly became an anthem at parties and clubs. This album was praised for its fusion of rock and dance music, helping to define the sound of indie and electronic music of the early 2000s. The success of the album established the band as a major force in the alternative music scene.

In 2007, LCD Soundsystem released their second album, Sound of Silver, which was widely acclaimed by critics and considered one of the best albums of the decade. Songs like "Someone Great" and "All My Friends" highlight Murphy's ability to blend dance beats with introspective and emotional lyrics. Sound of Silver is often cited as one of the highlights of the band's discography, further cementing their position in the music scene.

Following the release of This Is Happening in 2010, which was also well-received, the band announced their breakup, culminating in a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden in 2011, documented in the film Shut Up and Play the Hits. However, in 2016, LCD Soundsystem announced their reunion, and in 2017, they released American Dream, which was also praised by critics and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 charts.

LCD Soundsystem is known not only for its music, but also for its energetic live performances and contributions to pop culture. The band continues to be one of the most influential and beloved in the alternative music scene, with a sound that remains relevant and innovative.
