ABOUT THE ARTIST

Onslaught

Onslaught is a British thrash metal band formed in 1982 in Bristol, England. Originally, the band started out as a hardcore punk project, but quickly shifted their style to thrash metal, influenced by bands such as Motörhead, Slayer, and Venom. Onslaught is one of the pioneering thrash metal bands in the UK and has been a significant influence on the extreme metal scene.

The band's classic lineup includes Nige Rockett (guitar), Sy Keeler (vocals), Jase Stallard (bass) and Steve Grice (drums). The band's debut album, Power from Hell (1985), is a perfect example of the blend of punk and thrash metal, featuring a raw and aggressive sound that helped establish the band in the underground metal scene.

However, it was with the second album, The Force (1986), that Onslaught gained greater recognition. This album is considered a thrash metal classic, with tracks like "Let There Be Death" and "Metal Forces" that showcase the evolution of the band's sound to something more technical and powerful.

After the release of In Search of Sanity (1989), which featured Steve Grimmett (ex-Grim Reaper) as lead singer, the band went through several lineup changes and eventually broke up in 1991. However, Onslaught reunited in 2005 and released new albums, such as Killing Peace (2007) and Generation Antichrist (2020), which were well-received by fans and critics alike, cementing the band's status as a major force in thrash metal.

The band remains active, touring and releasing new material, staying true to their thrash metal roots, but with a modern production that appeals to a new generation of metal fans.
