M83 is a French musical project led by composer and producer Anthony Gonzalez, known for his cinematic approach to electronic music, blending elements of shoegaze, ambient, synthpop, and experimental electronic music. Founded in 2001, M83 began as a duo, but since the release of their debut album, M83 (2001), the band has become a project of Gonzalez, who became the sole permanent member. M83's big break came with the album Saturdays = Youth (2008), a work that captured a more accessible and pop sound, while still maintaining the experimental essence of the project. In 2011, M83 released Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, a double album widely considered Anthony Gonzalez's masterpiece.
