James Douglas Morrison (1943-1971) foi um poeta, realizador, argumentista e vocalista e compositor dos The Doors. Antes da sua morte, Morrison autopublicou três volumes de edição limitada da sua poesia: The Lords/Notes on Vision (1969), The New Creatures (1969), e An American Prayer (1970). A editora Simon & Schuster publicou o conjunto The Lords and The New Creatures em 1970. As edições póstumas dos escritos de Morrison incluem Wilderness: The Lost Writings of Jim Morrison, Volume I (1988) e The American Night: The Lost Writings of Jim Morrison, Volume II (1990).
