Il Divo is a multinational classical crossover music group formed in 2003 by businessman and producer Simon Cowell. The group consists of four vocalists from different countries: the Spaniard Carlos Marín (baritone), the Swiss Urs Bühler (tenor), the Frenchman Sébastien Izambard (pop vocalist), and the American David Miller (tenor). Il Divo is known for its blend of opera and pop music, a style it helped popularize and which has become widely known as "operatic pop" or "classical crossover." With a combination of powerful vocals and orchestral arrangements, the group has gained a global audience, selling millions of records and becoming one of the most successful groups in its genre.

The idea for Il Divo came from Simon Cowell, who wanted to form a group that combined the grandeur of opera with the accessibility of pop music. After an extensive search for talent worldwide, Cowell assembled the four members, each bringing with them a unique background and experience. Il Divo's self-titled debut album was released in 2004 and quickly achieved international success. Sadly, in December 2021, the group suffered a significant loss with the death of Carlos Marín, who passed away due to complications related to COVID-19. Marín's death was a devastating blow to the group and its fans worldwide, given the impact and importance of his presence and voice on Il Divo's distinctive sound.

Despite this tragic loss, Il Divo announced that they would continue to perform and honor Carlos Marín's legacy. The group plans to continue their journey, keeping alive the spirit and vision that united them from the beginning.
