ABOUT THE ARTIST

Stone Sour

Stone Sour is an American hard rock and alternative metal band formed in 1992 in Des Moines, Iowa. Founded by vocalist Corey Taylor and drummer Joel Ekman, the group has become known for its ability to combine heavy riffs, emotional lyrics, and catchy melodies, creating a sound that transcends the boundaries of traditional metal.

Although Corey Taylor became world famous as the lead singer of Slipknot, Stone Sour was his original project. After a break in 1997 for Taylor to devote himself to Slipknot, the band reformed in 2000, with a line-up that included James Root (also a member of Slipknot) on guitar, Josh Rand on rhythm guitar, and Shawn Economaki on bass.

Their debut album, Stone Sour (2002), marked the group's comeback and featured hits such as "Bother" and "Get Inside". The album was widely acclaimed for its ability to balance aggression and sensitivity, showing a more melodic and introspective side of Corey Taylor. The album earned the group a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Metal Performance.

In 2006, they released Come What(ever) May, which included the hit "Through Glass", one of the band's most popular songs. This work cemented Stone Sour's place in the hard rock and metal scene, with lyrics that explore personal and social themes. Albums such as Audio Secrecy (2010), which showed a more experimental side, and the ambitious double project House of Gold & Bones (Part 1 and Part 2, released in 2012 and 2013), which told a two-part conceptual story, combining elements of metal, progressive rock and complex lyrical narratives.

The album Hydrograd (2017) represented a new phase for the band, mixing elements of classic and contemporary hard rock, with songs like "Song #3" standing out. However, in 2020, Corey Taylor confirmed that Stone Sour was on indefinite hiatus, with the members focused on other projects, including Taylor's solo career.

Stone Sour is recognized for her musical versatility and the emotional depth of her compositions. Despite the hiatus, the band left a significant mark on hard rock and alternative metal, remaining one of the most respected in the genre.
