ABOUT THE ARTIST

Foreigner

Foreigner is one of the most iconic classic rock bands, formed in 1976 in New York. Composed of British and American musicians, the band became known for its sound that blends rock, hard rock, and pop music, achieving great success both in the United States and internationally. The original lineup included Mick Jones (guitar and vocals), Lou Gramm (lead vocals), Al Greenwood (keyboards), Ian McDonald (guitar and saxophone), Dennis Elliott (drums), and Ed Gagliardi (bass).

The band's debut album, Foreigner (1977), was a huge success, with singles like "Cold as Ice" and "Long, Long Way from Home". The band's sound, which combines heavy riffs with catchy melodies, quickly won over a loyal fanbase. Foreigner became a landmark in 70s rock, establishing the band as one of the genre's leading acts.

In 1979, Foreigner released their second album, Double Vision, which further solidified their success. The album includes some of the band's greatest classics, such as "Hot Blooded" and the title track "Double Vision." The album was a huge commercial success and catapulted Foreigner to worldwide stardom, establishing them as one of the leading rock bands of the time.

Throughout the following decades, the band continued to release successful albums, including Head Games (1980), 4 (1981), and Agent Provocateur (1984). 4 was one of the band's biggest successes, including hits like "Waiting for a Girl Like You" and "Juke Box Hero," which became essential classic rock songs. The band's sound was characterized by a blend of melodic rock with pop influences, and their romantic ballads became some of the biggest hits of that era.

After numerous albums and lineup changes over the years, Foreigner remains a strong presence on international tours. Even with Lou Gramm's departure in the 90s, Mick Jones kept the band's name alive, with new members and collaborations that helped maintain the band's legacy. Their music continues to be celebrated, and Foreigner is considered one of the greatest classic rock bands, with a career spanning several decades and thousands of fans worldwide.

With over 80 million albums sold and a string of timeless classics, Foreigner has left an indelible mark on popular music and remains one of the biggest influences on modern rock. Their combination of energetic songs, unforgettable ballads, and universal lyrics guarantees them a permanent place in rock history.
