ABOUT THE ARTIST

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones, one of the most iconic and influential bands in rock history, were formed in London in 1962. The band's classic lineup includes Mick Jagger (lead vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), and Ronnie Wood (guitar), with Brian Jones (guitar), Bill Wyman (bassist), and Mick Taylor (guitar) as notable former members. Known for their distinctive sound that blends rock, blues, and R&B, the Rolling Stones have become a dominant force in music over several decades.

The first self-titled album, "The Rolling Stones," was released in 1964 and featured a mix of blues and R&B covers, as well as original compositions. Songs such as "Not Fade Away" and "Tell Me" established the band as one of the main groups of the British Invasion.

In 1965, the Rolling Stones released "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," one of their biggest hits and one of rock's most iconic songs. With an iconic guitar riff by Keith Richards and provocative lyrics by Mick Jagger, the song became an anthem of rebellion and youth.

During the 1960s, the band continued to release a string of acclaimed albums, including "Aftermath" (1966), "Between the Buttons" (1967) and "Their Satanic Majesties Request" (1967). However, it was with "Beggars Banquet" (1968) that the band really solidified their sound, with tracks like "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Street Fighting Man."

The album "Let It Bleed" (1969) continued to explore darker and more mature themes, with classics such as "Gimme Shelter" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want." The death of Brian Jones in 1969 and the entry of Mick Taylor brought a new dynamic to the band.

The '70s were marked by continued success, beginning with "Sticky Fingers" (1971), which featured hits such as "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses." In 1972, they released "Exile on Main St.," considered by many to be their best work, with a mix of rock, blues, gospel and country.

During the 1980s, the band faced internal tensions, but continued to produce successful albums such as "Tattoo You" (1981), which included the hit "Start Me Up." The departure of Bill Wyman in 1993 did not dampen the band's momentum, with Ronnie Wood taking a more central role.

The '90s and 2000s saw the Rolling Stones continue to tour and release new albums, while maintaining a vital presence in rock music. "Bridges to Babylon" (1997) and "A Bigger Bang" (2005) were well received, showing that the band still had a lot to offer.

In 2016, they released "Blue & Lonesome," an album of blues covers that paid homage to their musical roots and received critical acclaim.

The Rolling Stones are known for their electrifying live performances and sold-out stadium concerts around the world. Mick Jagger's energy on stage, combined with Keith Richards' guitar prowess and the solid rhythmic foundation provided by Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, made his concerts an unforgettable experience for millions of fans.

In August 2021, Charlie Watts passed away at the age of 80, marking the end of an era for the band. Despite this loss, the Rolling Stones continue to make music and perform, maintaining their legacy as one of the greatest and most enduring rock bands of all time.

With a career spanning more than six decades, the Rolling Stones have left an indelible mark on music and popular culture. Their ability to evolve while staying true to their musical roots secures their place as one of the most important and influential bands in rock history.
