Hatebreed is an American metalcore band formed in 1994 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, by Jamey Jasta (vocals), Frank Novinec (guitar), Chris Beattie (bass) and Wayne Lozinak (guitar), with Matt Byrne on drums. Their raw and direct sound fuses hardcore punk rhythms with the weight of heavy metal, underpinned by lyrics focused on inner strength and overcoming.

In 1997 they released the EP Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire, which earned them immediate prominence in the underground scene. Their debut album, Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire (1997), and follow-up Perseverance (2002) cemented the band's reputation, with anthems such as "I Will Be Heard" and "Perseverance" becoming classics in the pit's around the world.

With a career that includes albums such as The Rise of Brutality (2003), Supremacy (2006), The Divinity of Purpose (2013) and Weight of the False Self (2020), Hatebreed remains true to the visceral energy that defined 2000s metalcore. Live, they are famous for the explosive intensity of the concerts, where Jasta leads the audience in a chorus of shouts of encouragement and resistance.
