ABOUT THE ARTIST

Keith Jarrett

Keith Jarrett is one of the most influential and versatile pianists and composers in contemporary music, born on May 8, 1945 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA. Jarrett is widely recognized in both the jazz and classical worlds, known for his skill in improvisation, which distinguishes him as one of the most innovative musicians of his generation.

Jarrett began his musical career at a young age, studying classical piano and displaying prodigious talent. In the 1960s, he began to gain notoriety by playing with the likes of Art Blakey and Charles Lloyd, before joining Miles Davis' quartet, where he stood out as one of the leading jazz pianists of the time.

His solo career is marked by a series of groundbreaking albums, including the iconic The Köln Concert (1975), which is one of the best-selling solo piano albums of all time. This album, recorded live, is widely acclaimed for its improvisational beauty and the emotional depth of its compositions.

Keith Jarrett is also known for his work with the Standards Trio, formed with bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Jack DeJohnette. This trio is celebrated for its interpretations of jazz standards, combining impeccable technique with a unique sensibility.

In addition to jazz, Jarrett also has a significant career in classical music, having recorded works by Bach, Shostakovich, and other important composers. He is recognized for his ability to navigate between genres fluidly while maintaining a unique artistic voice.

Over the years, Jarrett has faced health issues that have impacted his ability to perform live, but his legacy as one of the greatest pianists and improvisers of the 20th and 21st centuries is assured. His influence on jazz and music in general continues to be immense, inspiring generations of musicians.
