ABOUT THE ARTIST

Exodus

Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in Richmond, California. Considered one of the pioneers of thrash metal, Exodus had a significant influence on the metal scene, particularly in the Bay Area of San Francisco, which is known as the birthplace of thrash metal. The band was co-founded by Tom Hunting (drums) and Kirk Hammett (guitarist), who would later join Metallica. However, the most recognized lineup includes Gary Holt (guitarist), Steve "Zetro" Souza (vocalist) and Tom Hunting.

The band's debut album, Bonded by Blood (1985), is widely considered a thrash metal classic and one of the most important works of the genre. With tracks like "Bonded by Blood" and "A Lesson in Violence," the album stood out for its speed, aggressive riffs, and hard-hitting lyrics, helping to set the standard for thrash metal.

Despite their initial impact, Exodus went through several lineup changes and faced challenges over the years, including the departure of Paul Baloff, the original vocalist, and the entry of Steve "Zetro" Souza. The band also went through a period of inactivity in the '90s, but came back with a vengeance in the early 2000s.

With the return of Gary Holt, who became the band's driving force, Exodus released acclaimed albums such as Tempo of the Damned (2004), The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A (2007), and Blood In, Blood Out (2014). These releases demonstrated the band's ability to maintain aggressiveness and relevance in the metal scene, despite changes in the music industry and trends.

Gary Holt also gained notoriety as a member of Slayer, replacing Jeff Hanneman on tour after the latter's death. However, Holt maintained his commitment to Exodus, continuing to lead the band and contribute new music.

Exodus is widely respected as one of the most important bands in thrash metal, with a dedicated fan base and an enduring influence on the genre. They continue to tour and release new albums, keeping the spirit of thrash metal alive and relevant.
