ABOUT THE ARTIST

Daft Punk

Daft Punk was a French electronic music duo formed by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo in 1993. They are widely recognized as one of the most influential and innovative groups in electronic music, pioneering the combination of house, techno, disco, and rock and pop elements. The duo also became famous for their unique aesthetic, which included wearing robot helmets and futuristic costumes, preserving anonymity and creating an aura of mystery around their public image.

The duo's debut album, Homework (1997), was a global success, including hits such as "Da Funk" and "Around the World". This album helped define the sound of '90s house music and introduced Daft Punk as leaders of a new movement in electronic music. The success of Homework made Daft Punk a central figure in the global dance music scene.

In 2001, they released Discovery, an album that marked a significant change in the duo's sound, incorporating more influences from disco, funk, and pop music. Discovery included hits such as "One More Time", "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" and "Digital Love", and is widely considered one of the most important albums of the early 2000s, both for its sonic innovation and cultural impact.

Daft Punk continued to evolve with the release of Human After All (2005), which had a more raw and minimalist sound, and was followed by an acclaimed world tour in 2006–2007, documented on the live album Alive 2007. This tour is often remembered as one of the most influential in the history of electronic music, with a stunning visual spectacle that raised the bar for live performances in the genre.

In 2013, Daft Punk released Random Access Memories, an album that paid homage to the sound of the '70s and '80s, especially disco and funk. This album included the megahit "Get Lucky", featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, and won several Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. Random Access Memories was a milestone in the duo's career, showcasing their ability to reinvent their sound and continue to amaze audiences.

In February 2021, Daft Punk announced their breakup through a video titled "Epilogue", marking the end of one of the most influential careers in electronic music. Even after the end, Daft Punk's legacy remains intact, with their music continuing to influence artists around the world and resonate with fans across generations. They are celebrated not only for their musical innovation, but also for their ability to create a strong and enduring visual identity that has transcended music and become part of global pop culture.
