ABOUT THE ARTIST

Seether

Seether is an alternative rock and post-grunge band formed in 1999 in Pretoria, South Africa. Known for their heavy sound, blending grunge influences with alternative rock and post-grunge, the band gained worldwide recognition through their intense and emotional lyrics, which address themes such as pain, overcoming adversity, and personal relationships. With a series of successful albums and a strong presence in the rock scene, Seether is one of the most important bands to emerge from the post-grunge scene of the 2000s.

Seether's debut album, Seether (2000), was a modest initial release, but it was with their second album, Disclaimer (2002), that the band truly made their mark. Disclaimer was a huge success, thanks to tracks like "Fine Again" and "Driven Under," which quickly became anthems of the alternative rock scene. The blend of heavy riffs, distorted guitars, and emotional lyrics made Seether one of the leading bands in the post-grunge scene and helped establish their unique and accessible sound.

In 2004, the band released Karma and Effect, an album that continued to explore the same heavy and introspective sounds that marked their first work. Tracks like "Remedy" and "Truth" became hits, and the album was a great commercial success, solidifying Seether as one of the biggest alternative rock bands of their generation. The band's sound, while maintaining the brutality of grunge, also incorporated elements of hard rock and a more accessible melody, which allowed them to win over a diverse fanbase.

In subsequent albums, such as Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces (2007) and Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray (2011), Seether continued to solidify their position in alternative rock. The album Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces, which includes tracks like "Fake It" and "Rise Above This," was a huge success, and the single "Fake It" became one of the band's biggest hits, receiving recognition on both rock and mainstream charts. Their ability to create heavy and melodic music while maintaining an emotional approach in their lyrics helped the band maintain a strong connection with their fans.

With over 20 years in the business, Seether remains a relevant band in the alternative rock scene, having released albums such as Poison the Parish (2017) and Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum (2020), which continue to explore their heavy and emotional sound. The band maintains a loyal fanbase, attracting new listeners with each new release and with their energetic and intense live performances. Seether continues to be one of the most influential bands in contemporary rock, being a major reference in post-grunge and alternative rock.
