In 2012, Kendrick Lamar released good kid, m.A.A.d city, his second studio album, which was critically acclaimed and became a milestone in his career. This album is a semi-autobiographical narrative of Lamar's youth in Compton, exploring the pressures and dilemmas he faced growing up in an environment dominated by gangs and violence. Tracks such as "Swimming Pools (Drank)," "Backseat Freestyle," and "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe" became major hits, and the album was nominated for several Grammy Awards. good kid, m.a.a.d city is often cited as one of the best rap albums of all time, known for its cohesive storytelling, lyrical depth, and innovative production.

In 2015, Lamar released To Pimp a Butterfly, an album that further extended his reputation as an innovative and socially committed artist. The album blended elements of jazz, funk, soul, and spoken word, addressing issues of race, identity, and the fight for equality in the United States. "Alright," one of the album's best-known tracks, has become an anthem of social justice movements, particularly in the context of the Black Lives Matter movement. The album was widely praised by critics and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, as well as being nominated for Album of the Year.

In 2017, Kendrick Lamar released DAMN., an album that earned him even more acclaim and commercial success. The album also won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and was nominated for Album of the Year.
