ABOUT THE ARTIST

Milton Nascimento

Milton Nascimento, born in 1942 in Rio de Janeiro and raised in Minas Gerais, is one of the greatest names in Brazilian music and one of the most recognizable voices in the world. A singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, he has built a body of work marked by the fusion of popular music, jazz, progressive rock, and regional Brazilian sounds, becoming an icon of MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) and universal songwriter music.

Her career began to gain prominence in the late 1960s, when her composition "Travessia" was performed at the 1967 International Song Festival, winning over the public and paving the way for her first album. From early on, her unique voice – with its high range and unmistakable timbre – became her trademark, capable of conveying spiritual intensity and rare emotion.

In the 1970s, Milton Nascimento established himself with albums such as Clube da Esquina (1972), recorded with Lô Borges, considered one of the most important albums in Brazilian music. The work presented a bold aesthetic, combining psychedelic rock, music from Minas Gerais, MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), and international influences, giving rise to an artistic movement of great impact.

Throughout his career, he released acclaimed albums such as Minas (1975), Geraes (1976) and Caçador de Mim (1981), in addition to memorable collaborations with artists such as Wayne Shorter, Paul Simon, Herbie Hancock, Chico Buarque, Elis Regina and Sarah Vaughan. His music transcended borders, becoming a worldwide reference in the fusion between Brazilian tradition and universal language.

Composer of timeless songs such as "Coração de Estudante," "Maria, Maria," "Canção da América," and "Nada Será Como Antes," Milton Nascimento also became a voice of resistance and hope during times of dictatorship, using art as a form of political and spiritual affirmation.

In 2022, she announced her farewell to the stage with the tour "The Last Music Session," concluding more than five decades of a celebrated career worldwide.

Today, Milton Nascimento is revered as one of the greatest voices in Brazilian and world music, a symbol of innovation, sensitivity, and universality, whose work remains timeless and inspiring for future generations.
