ABOUT THE ARTIST

Of Mice & Men

Of Mice & Men is an American metalcore band formed in 2009 in Costa Mesa, California, by Austin Carlile (vocals) and Jaxin Hall (bass). The band's name was inspired by John Steinbeck's novel "Of Mice and Men," reflecting the connection to themes of struggle and survival that often appear in the band's lyrics.

The self-titled debut album Of Mice & Men was released in 2010, and quickly established the band as an emerging force in the metalcore scene. The album's sound is characterized by a combination of aggressive vocals, heavy breakdowns, and melodic passages, which became a trademark of the band. Songs like "Second & Sebring" became popular among fans and helped build the band's following.

After the release of their first album, the band went through some significant lineup changes, including the temporary departure of Austin Carlile due to health issues. Even so, Of Mice & Men continued to gain momentum with the release of their second album, The Flood (2011), which was a commercial and critical success, solidifying the band's position in the metalcore scene.

In 2014, the band released Restoring Force, which marked a significant shift in Of Mice & Men's sound, incorporating more elements of alternative rock and traditional metal. The album was well-received and included singles such as "Would You Still Be There" and "Bones Exposed," which helped expand the band's reach beyond the metalcore audience.

Austin Carlile left the band permanently in 2016 due to health issues related to Marfan syndrome, and bassist Aaron Pauley took over lead vocals. The band continued releasing albums, such as Defy (2018) and Earthandsky (2019), showcasing a continuous evolution of the band's sound, with a more melodic and lyrically focused approach, while maintaining their characteristic intensity.

Of Mice & Men is known for its energetic live performances and its ability to blend aggression with melody, creating a sound that is both heavy and accessible. With a dedicated fanbase and a discography that continues to grow, the band remains an important presence in the global metalcore scene.
