ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mac Miller

Mac Miller (born Malcolm James McCormick on January 19, 1992 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) was an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He began gaining recognition in the music scene in 2010 with the mixtape "K.I.D.S." (Kickin' Incredibly Dope Shit), which included popular tracks such as "Nikes on My Feet" and "Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza."

In 2011, Mac Miller released his debut album, "Blue Slide Park," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, becoming the first independent album to achieve this feat since 1995. The album included singles such as "Frick Park Market" and "Party on Fifth Ave." This early success solidified his position in the hip-hop scene.

In the following years, Mac Miller continued to evolve as an artist, releasing a series of mixtapes and albums that showcased his growing musical and lyrical maturity. In 2013, he released "Watching Movies with the Sound Off," an album that received critical acclaim for its sophisticated and introspective production. The album included collaborations with artists such as Earl Sweatshirt, Schoolboy Q and Action Bronson.

In 2015, Miller released "GO AM," which featured a more polished and commercial sound, with singles such as "100 Grandkids" and "Weekend," featuring Miguel. The album was well-received and showcased his ability to create accessible music while maintaining his artistic integrity.

"The Divine Feminine," released in 2016, was a deeper exploration of love and spirituality, standing out for its exuberant production and collaborations with artists such as Anderson. Paak and Ariana Grande. The album received praise for its cohesion and maturity.

In 2018, he released "Swimming," an album that was widely considered one of his best works. With tracks like "Self Care," "What's the Use?" and "2009," "Swimming" explored themes of recovery and self-knowledge. Tragically, Mac Miller passed away on September 7, 2018, at the age of 26, due to an accidental overdose.

After his death, Mac Miller's legacy continued to grow. In 2020, the album "Circles" was posthumously released, which was acclaimed by critics and fans alike. The album served as a complement to "Swimming," completing Mac's artistic vision for his music. With a career marked by lyrical honesty and a willingness to explore new musical territories, Mac Miller left a lasting impact on music and a dedicated fan base that continues to celebrate his life and work.
