Camel

Camel é uma banda britânica de rock progressivo formada em 1971, em Guildford, Inglaterra. Reconhecida pelo seu som melódico, intrincado e atmosférico, Camel tornou-se uma referência no género, misturando rock, jazz, música clássica e elementos de folk. A banda é conhecida pela sua capacidade de criar peças instrumentais cativantes e conceptuais, muitas vezes lideradas pela guitarra emotiva de Andrew Latimer, que também é vocalista e o único membro constante ao longo da sua carreira.

O álbum de estreia, Camel (1973), introduziu a banda com um som progressivo refinado, mas foi com Mirage (1974) que Camel começou a atrair maior atenção. Este álbum inclui clássicos como "Lady Fantasy" e "Nimrodel/The Procession/The White Rider", inspirados por temas de fantasia, estabelecendo a banda como uma força criativa no rock progressivo.

A obra-prima do grupo, The Snow Goose (1975), é um álbum conceptual inteiramente instrumental inspirado no romance de Paul Gallico. Com arranjos orquestrais e melodias cinematográficas, o álbum é considerado um dos trabalhos mais importantes do rock progressivo, destacando a habilidade da banda em criar narrativas musicais emocionais sem recorrer a letras.

Depois de um hiato nos anos 90 devido a problemas de saúde de Andrew Latimer, a banda retomou as atividades, lançando Rajaz (1999) e A Nod and a Wink (2002), que trouxeram um retorno às suas raízes progressivas.
