Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, is one of the most influential record producers, rappers, and entrepreneurs in hip-hop history. Born on February 18, 1965 in Compton, California, Dr. Dre played a key role in popularizing gangsta rap in the '90s and was one of the pioneers of the G-funk sound, which became one of the most iconic styles of hip-hop of that decade.

Dr. Dre began his music career in the 1980s as a DJ, gaining popularity as a member of the group World Class Wreckin' Cru. However, it was with the group N.W.A. (Niggaz Wit Attitudes) that he really stood out. As a founding member of N.W.A., alongside Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yella, Dre helped bring to light the brutal realities of life on the streets of Compton, with controversial and provocative lyrics. The album Straight Outta Compton (1988) was a milestone in rap and a cultural turning point, popularizing gangsta rap and challenging societal norms with its blunt approach to violence, crime, and social injustice.

After leaving N.W.A. due to conflicts with Ruthless Records and manager Jerry Heller, Dr. Dre founded his own record label, Death Row Records, together with Suge Knight. In 1992, he released his debut solo album, The Chronic, which was a huge commercial and critical success. This album introduced the G-funk sound, characterized by slow beats, bass-heavy grooves, melodic synthesizers, and lyrics that combined aggression with a sense of party and luxury. The Chronic is considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time and includes hits such as "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" and "Let Me Ride."

In addition to his solo career, Dr. Dre is known for having released and produced albums for several highly successful artists, including Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, Eminem, and 50 Cent. His production for Snoop Dogg's album Doggystyle and Tupac Shakur's All Eyez on Me helped solidify his status as the leading hip-hop producer of the time.

In the 2000s, Dre founded Aftermath Entertainment, which became home to artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent, and Kendrick Lamar, further expanding his influence in the music industry. In addition, Dre is also the co-founder of the headphone brand Beats by Dre, which was sold to Apple for $3 billion in 2014, making him one of the richest musicians in the world.

Dr. Dre continues to be a central figure in hip-hop and popular music, both for his direct impact on music and for his role as a mentor to multiple generations of artists.
