This book presents compositions written in Hungary between 1956 and 1989, the so-called 'Kádár era', and examines the repertoire of the composers of that period. The book not only analyses the compositions, but also interprets them in the context of contemporary criticism, making use of the composers' contemporary statements or later memories.
