An excommunicated Cherokee teenager grows up in a world full of strangers, potentially lethal challenges - real and imagined, and an Amish clan that takes him in and teaches him how to work within their group. Wiser, he decides to return to his Reservation, collecting along the way a motley gaggle of followers who may or may not fit in at home!
