Sally Beauman, nasceu em 1944, no Devon, e licenciou-se em Literatura Inglesa. Como jornalista colaborou com diversos importantes órgãos de imprensa, nos EUA e Grã-Bretanha: Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph Magazine, Sunday Times, Observer, The New York Times e New Yorker. Sally Beauman foi escolhida por Daphne du Maurier para dar continuidade à história de Rebecca.
