The Unnamable Present

Roberto Calasso (1941-2021) was an Italian editor, writer, and essayist. In 1962 he joined the newly created Adelphi, where he worked continuously, becoming editor-in-chief in 1971 and general director in 1990. From 1999 onwards, he became president of the publishing house. Alongside his editorial work, Calasso developed a career as a writer and essayist. In his works, he questions myths and the past to investigate the present of humankind.
